  • Nick didn't know this information about Gatsby at this time
  • Tom, his friends, Mr Sloane and the lady turn up at Gatsby's house on horseback
  • They invite Nick and Gatsby home for supper but Mr Sloane isn't happy about it
  • Nick does not want to go but Gatsby does, but they leave before Gatsby is ready
  • Tome gets suspicious how Gatsby and Daisy know each other

  • This party was a different atmosphere to the last one- "i felt an unpleasantness in the air, a pervading harshness"

  • "Fruit rinds and discarded favours and crushed flowers" - Gatsby's house is a mess and so is his dream with Daisy
  • "Cant repeat the past?" he cried incredulously "Why of course you can!" - Gatsby believes that he can have the Daisy he knew back and it will be the same

Katie's Group:

  • A news reporter arrives at Gatsby's door and asks for gossip about the people who attend his party
  • Gatsby changed his name at 17-James Gatz to Jay Gatsby

  • He did not go to Oxford but rather the small Lutheran College of St Olaf's in Southern Minnesota
  • He worked for Dan Cody on his boat
  • Dan Cody was a millionaire which is why alot of women were interested in him
  • Ella Kaye was one of these women but she inherited Cody's money
  • Gatsby got Cody's trust instead
  • Because of Dan, Gatsby stayed away from drink
  • Dan died a week after Ella Kaye came on board in Boston
  • Gatsby had a party which Tom and Daisy were invited to
  • Daisy did not like the fact there was so many people at the party
  • Gatsby was stressing because Daisy did not enjoy it

-- a lady is keen on gatsby but mr sloane and tom dont like him , they leave without him (?)
-- cody died and his mistress (ella kayne) took most of his money.
